Writing
I write fiction and narrative non-fiction, both of which have been published online and in print. In addition to my own creative practice, I am a ghostwriter, content writer and book reviewer with a particular focus on contemporary translated literature.
Creative writing.
My short fiction and creative non-fiction have appeared in Linseed, Panel, Potluck Zine and Stanchion, as well as online publications such as Visual Verse. I have been longlisted for the Desperate Literature Short Story Prize and the Bradt Travel Writing Prize, and my short story ‘Marina’ was a winner in the 2021 Ruritania Prize.
I am currently working on a non-fiction book about psychogeography and weather, which blends nature writing, travel writing and memoir.
Ghostwriting.
I work as a ghostwriter for people who wish to tell their own or their family’s story but aren’t quite sure where to start. I can help with all aspects, from structure to style, to getting words down on the page. I work with the utmost discretion and confidentiality, but am always thrilled when it is possible to talk about a project: I recently was fortunate enough to collaborate with Paralympic gold medallist and cycling world champion Jaco van Gass on his memoir Unequivocal.
In addition to ghostwriting, I have worked for many years as a copywriter, content author and scriptwriter. My clients have included major travel, events and fashion brands, healthcare start-ups and documentary film producers.
Reviews.
My book reviews, essays and articles about translated literature have appeared in publications including Asymptote, Lunate and The Riveter. I’m a regular contributor to ‘Literary Tastings’, a blog run by the Goethe-Institut that pairs translations of contemporary German literature with titles originally written in English. For several years I also authored a successful review blog, The Monthly Booking, with curated monthly reading lists and a focus on independent presses.
